The routes take you through a range of natural vegetation, mountain fynbos, indigenous forest, renoster veld and spectator scenery all in the foothills of the Langeberg. The total trail distance for cycling is 58km and this includes several circular possibilities ranging between 8km and 25km. Permits are available for these trails at the Grootvadersbos Nature Reserve. Other longer routes are available outside the Conservancy, which challenges the more serious cyclist wanting dirt road exposure. The conservancy has already got funding from the Table Mountain Fund and WWF for extending trails for hiking and mountain biking in the area – creating job opportunities as well as opening up the area for enviro-tourism. There are plans to link up trail routes from Heidelberg extending the variety of trails in the area to cater for the bikers wanting gentle rides as well as for those looking for exciting single track challenges.
More than 150 kms of trails now available with various colour coded options indicating degree of difficulty.
